Stew.. My mom made Stew and i always knew it as stew. Cheap cuts of beef, diced Potatoes, carrots, green beans... All in a tomato based sauce served with plates of white bread and margarine and iced tea. We spiced it up with A-1 sauce! When I went to Purdue, my roomies called it Red Stew as their moms made it without the tomato base. Two weeks ago I made Oden - Japanese fish stew. But last week it was Stew and although I made it with Buffalo, homemade tomato sauce and homegrown veggies served with sourdough rolls and butter, it would make my momma proud...even when i spiced it up with A-1. So, my friends, as summer slips so easily into autumn and the nights turn chill. Enjoy stew and, perhaps, your childhood.
