Still in charge Fergie? Sir Alex makes £26m bid for Arturo Vidal FORMER Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has tabled a sensational £26million bid for Juventus star Arturo Vidal. By: Anthony Chapman. Thu, May 15, 2014 Reports in Italy claim that Ferguson met with the Serie A winners coach Antonio Conte at last nights Europa League final to discuss a deal which would see the Chilean midfield maestro make the switch from Turin to Trafford. Ferguson, who retired after last years title-winning campaign, was a regular face in the crowd during David Moyes nightmare reign at the Theatre of Dreams, and many believe the 72-year-old Scot is still working his magic behind the scenes as the club prepares for a second shot at a new era. With Holland boss Louis Van Gaal still waiting to be appointed to the Old Trafford hot seat, Ferguson and the Red Devils board are looking to secure at least one major signing before the summers rebuilding gets fully underway. Juve boss Conte is open to selling Vidal as he figures a way to include Claudio Marchisio, former United man Paul Pogba and Italian veteran Andrea Pirlo in his midfield, and a move to United could materialise if full-back Patrice Evra agrees terms on a two-year deal with the Bianconeri. However the Italian champions will not budge for less than £32million, and that could force United to look elsewhere as they aim to tie up quick deals for Southamptons Luke Shaw and Romas Kevin Strootman. I think I read that SAF should keep away from United Coaching affairs? And why is he interfering in this again or does it mean United board cant do without him?
