Still in total SHOCK!! I have been SELECTED (I did not apply for anything!) as ONE OF 120 KINDERGARTEN teachers ACROSS the STATE of VIRGINIA to be a part of The Virginia Kindergarten Readiness Project!!! We will be working alongside The University of Virginia’s Center for the Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning in order to understand the kindergarten readiness GAP within my district and throughout the state. I am very excited to be piloting this program within my classroom! Trust and believe, I will represent RPS and my NEW school well! This information is very vital to understanding why it is that 1 in 7 children enter into kindergarten not ready to read. As kindergarten teachers, we know that there is a LOT of prep that goes into getting them on that track. I, for one, am looking forward to finding out what else can be done!
