Still incredibly annoyed at the New York Times. I may think "twerking" is stupid, but I can assess it on its own merit whereas NYT and similar news sources seem to indulge in this thinly-veiled trope of whitesplaining to bemused white readers with "black culture is so funny and ridiculous, amirite?! lulz". Really, is there any difference between Miley Cyrus using black people as performance props and NYT using perceived "black culture" as a launching point for condescending "those people are so weird" pieces under the guise of "explaining" cultural trends to middle class, middle aged white readers?
