Still recovering !!!! Insane Pane Train tonight Faaark !!!!! Return of the Guns with Josh Page showing up for the 1st time in months and the Come-Back Kid B Vesty (3rd at the Cross-fit team Nationals held at the Mount this weekend been) making yet another mini return to cycling !! How long will it last is the big question ? Thanks to Steve Watson dragging a few of us out to Lake Tutira and back on Sunday the pace started off a little subdued at the start of tonights ride, although this was short lived when Page and Nick decided to jump away before the 1st bridge followed shortly after by Princes Dan. This was the order for the 1st KOM and Page jumped again to take Coops, possibly followed by Dan and Chris Clark ? The pace was pretty solid from the mid point with Cadell getting an early break followed by Kevin McCarthy and Page taking the front up towards Haumoana School. Big bunch back together with Page kicking hard at the start of the water front to get a decent gap of some 70 m. Dan and a few others including Kev and Doug work to try and close the gap. Getting close to the S Bend and Page is looking good to take the 1st sprint solo when Tub hears the continued brain washing effect of Mentor Wakely in his head jump jump jump jump Faaaarken jump ha ha. Well it worked and managed to roll ol Page some 15 m short of the ingrained white line !!!!! Mean while Vesty cruses in for 3rd, whilst Page keeps going and takes the 2nd sprint. Tub holds back the chunks and manages to just get back onto the group !!!!! All go from here to HN. Big group with a few smashing the front including Page, Nick ?, Kev, Chris ? Wallace and Dan riding like a man on a mission with a couple of solid 50 km/h efforts !!!!!! Kirsty also held her own and impressively stayed with the main group all the way to the last sprint. Vesty was also determined as ever (1st ride in months) bridging and closing down several gaps with what looked like ease but later admitting that his legs were burning !! Once a Pro ........... Any way !!!!!!! Page lifts the pace some 5 k out from the last sprint, holds it for ages and then the pace goes back to tempo. Dan then gets on the front and holds a steady as pace for some time. Vesty drags a few of us back on. Pretty sure Cadel is neared the front next with some 400 meters to go. Pace eases now with every one bracing for the Big Jumo Vesty ends up on the front 300 out then 250 then the ol big gear out of the seat cross-fit powered launch !! Tub following with interest but concerned re Nick Chili glued to the rear !! 200 out and this ol fella finally goes. Senses Nick to the right for a short period then 20 m out to the left. 10 still behind, 5 4 3 2 1 line foot throw, 6 inches 4 inches line shout hand up yes, pretty much as Nick crosses too !!!!! Lucky Im the writer cause a photo probably required to get the unbiased decision :-P p.s. The End !! p.p.s Whats the storey Peter Murphy - apparently retiring after Southland ??
