Still thinking about the tragic death of PSH. I am sad, and mad. Why do the deaths of people who we do not know, especially celebrities, affect us. As I said in an earlier post, I felt the same way when Heath Ledger died. I would not watch Batman after it was released because I became emotional. Both Philip and Heath were film stars. As my dear friend Suzanne Borth said, Good film can be a religious experience. I agree. And I feel the same way about art in general. Music, fine art, photography, live theatre, have all moved me to tears. I was raised by an artist. She was also a mother, and a teacher. Therefore, she contributed to society in more than one way. Artists may not influence society the same way that great doctors do, or scientists, soldiers, policeman, etc. But I would never want to live in a world without them. RIP.
