Still traveling these Wilson roads to get to the golden arch on 4816 Ward Blvd., for it has been my place of employment for nearly six years. Went off to Pirate Nation for about five months after graduating Fike High School in 2010. Things didnt work so back to my mamas crib in Wide Awake I moved. Contemplating on what I wanted from life, and deciding to start small (as I should have done right after high school) ; I began the local community college here in Wilson in August of 2011 in hopes of pursuing an Associates of Science to later transfer to East Carolina to earn a Bachelors of Science in Merchandising with a concentration in Fashion. Concluding my community college journey in May of 2013 with no degree. Still wanting to go to college and most importantly, receive a degree; also seeing nothing changing around me I decided to return to East Carolina in the Fall of 2014. Acceptance letter came and everythings fine, then it hit me. No money saved up and not wanting to take out loans, nor did I want go through what I did previously. I then made up my mind to return to the local community college instead. Things were still good then I get a letter from FA stating funds were denied due to unpaid loans from East Carolina. - I then pressed my golden arch uniform, buckled my pants, buttoned my shirt, aligned my belt and shirt with my fly, straightened my tie, and headed back to the drive-thru. Im still there. Here it is now, Thursday, October 2, 2014 I have not received a college degree, nor am I enrolled in any institution, still living with my mama. I have however became a People Manager at the arch. To add to that, Ive found a craft Im good at earning extra cash to hurry and pay these loans off so that I may return to some institution to obtain a college degree. - Whether youre employed at the arch, or any restaurant, no matter the job, just be grateful youre on someones payroll. This, however, wasnt the dream but sometimes you have to take whats given to you and make the best of it. I WILL graduate college one day. My wife and kids WILL be residents of LA one day. I WILL have a career doing something I love. -- Mr. Jermaine Cole penned a letter on June 15th of this year just reflecting five years ago that day. He ended with this little speech: {In [nearly] 5 years Ive come so far. I am grateful to be here today, alive and full of potential. But I am not satisfied. I still want more. I still have dreams, even bigger now than before. I will not settle or conform . . I realize that the work I put in today affects the life that I live tomorrow. I believe in myself. And to all those that doubt me I say, F*ck that. I will be Greater. Watch me.} - [Everything happens for a reason. It will be OK.] -----
