Stock market rebounds after drop on Thursday CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – After a sharp drop on Thursday, stocks are back up, above 17,000. The Dow closed at 17,100 on Friday, only 50 points below this year’s record high. Thursday, after the news of a passenger plane crash in eastern Ukraine, investors quickly sold off stocks, in favor of safer assets, such as gold and bonds. Springfield Financial Advisor Mark Teed told 22News that would be a one-afternoon event, and he predicted correctly. The stock market reacted out of fear, but now, 24 hours later, stocks have rebounded significantly.
