Stockton Lake Triathlon: Wild-Life Challenge was so much fun. I had a wild hair and decided to switch from the sprint to the long course. Yep, it seemed like a good plan at the time! The 1000 meter swim was decent and I felt strong going into that HILLY 20.8 mile bike ride and actually felt pretty good, but my legs were toast when I hopped off for the 10K and I should have made sure I had enough fuel for the run. I was a little worried when I crossed the dam and saw a flock of vultures sitting on the rocks of the dam, and was much more motivated to run a bit harder. There were only 12 in the long course and I finished 5th … slightly above average which is very much like Lake Wobegon children Liz Weidling…thank you for the swimming tips and for making me do those extra workouts when I wanted to stop…you are an awesome coach and motivator!!! Becky Kellhofer finished 3rd in the short course. She is such a competitor and perhaps a future The Reds Triathlon Team member (along with another strong recruit to the Reds Vanessa Hayden!
