Storm systems update: Over the next 2 weeks a few weather systems will be pushing through the state. The powerful one will enter the state by late saturday and go through late sunday night. Here are the storm systems and what they could bring. 1st system will be very weak and a fast mover. This system looks to bring breif showers to areas between I-70 and I-72. This system looks to hit between midnight and dawn. Expect a few hundredths of an inch out of this system. 2nd system will be the strongest over the next 2 weeks. This system looks to hit western IL by late afternoon saturday and spread east saturday night. Areas east of I-55 will have a chance of sever storms from early afternoon through mid evening. Main threats will be damaging straigt line winds, large hail and heavy rains. There is also a risk of isolated tornados in eastern and southern IL. The bulk of the rain looks like it will come into the state late saturday night and continue through sunday evening. This system looks like it could last through early monday morning. Rainfall amounts looks like will be from .50 to 1.00 inch. With higher amounts in stronger storms. The 3rd system looks like it could hit by late wednesday through dawn thursday. Thgis system will effect areas mainly north of I-80. It will start out as rain then before it ends could change to a rain/ snow mix. Amounts will be under .10 of an inch. No snow accumulations are expected. The 4th weather system Im watching could hit the state by late thursday afternoon in the northwest and spread southeast during the evening and late night hrs of thursday night. This system looks like it will be a all rain event. This system could last through late saturday (23rd). Especially areas south of I-72 for the (23rd). The precip could have a little snow mixed in before it ends. No snowfall accumulations are expected. Rainfall amounts could be between .25- .50 of an inch. The 5th system will be moisture starved. This system could bring a few flurries to the state starting in northwestern IL and spread southeast ward. This system looks like it will last late tuesday (26th) throught wednesday (27th) No snow accumulations are expected. The 6th and last system Im watching could hit the state late thursday (28th) and could last through early to mid afternoon friday (29th) This system looks like it will be mainly rain. But, some snow could mix in with the rain north of I-72 thursday night (28th). No snow accumulations are expected. Rainfall will be less than .10 of an inch.
