Stormy weather keeping me home this a.m. Surfing around after catching up on the news... Just looking at the tabs I have open - FB of course, Wikipedia article on Ted Nugent (I wonder if he can still afford a shirt with sleeves?), a page of beautiful trees (courtesy of Tessa Alberts), Global Research.ca (for all the paranoia you can stand), and a Wikipedia article on the Kent State shootings. The juxtaposition between Ted Nugent and Kent State is especially jarring, of course. And somehow it relates to Robin Williams.... Recalling the Joanna Macy piece on apathy I read recently... A Pathos - As a choice, as a way to avoid depression, choosing to not FEEL the dissonant contradictions of America.... I think maybe there are other countries where there is such a disconnect between stated values and the values expressed in actions, but I dont know which ones they are. Ive been thinking about the connection between The Law of Attraction and Apathy... so many people choosing not to feel anything but fluffy abundance, thinking that by doing so they are helping the world. The whole law of attraction thing... important to a very distinct demographic, if you know what I mean. And then there is Robin Williams, like all great actors a channel for collective pathos. The land between Ted Nugent and Kent State is where Robin Williams chose no longer to live. Action creates vibration. To live in a more beautiful world is not apolitical. It is my hope that this gifted mans death sheds light on our society. His death was preventable, yes, by actions that prevented things like American support for the massacre of Gaza, the destruction of Iraq, the so on and so forth. Those who choose not to feel pain - because they think it creates more pain, for instance - are leaving a huge hole in this earth.
