Story #874 Anonymous CHILD SNATCHER I saw something I wish I could forget. This one night, I stayed at a friends place watching her kids who were 11 and 17 at the time. Theres an old trail up on the hill that people say is an old wagon road. I was having a bad dream so I got up to shake it off. The moon was out so I thought maybe that would calm me down. I looked out the window and just scanned the area sipping a glass of water. Then I noticed movement between the trees. I thought who would be out there this time of night? So I put on my glasses to get a better look. I was wide awake, had on my good specs and know what I saw. It was upright so I know it wasnt an animal. Thats the first thing I noticed when I saw it. It was pale grey, looked like it was dressed in a long, ragged robe. When it moved, it didnt take steps, it glided along. When it got to where the trees thinned out, I saw it better. Id estimate it was about 25 to 30 feet from the house. It was a clear night. It came to a flat patch when the bushes were pushed down. I saw it and it had something in its right arm. To me, it looked like an image of a frightened child! I saw the face and fear in the expression. My heart sank. I know I wasnt dreaming this! I had the feeling there was another one in its other arm. This thing had two childrens spirits and was taking them away. I felt helpless to do anything. I watched it go up the hill, walk on that trail a ways then disappear around the bend. I couldnt sleep the rest of the night. Later on, I did some reading at the local library which lead me to another one in the next town. I found out there use to be a little old school that was built close to where my friends house is. The school didnt stay long, for some reason it was closed and removed. I get the feeling that there is a piece of untold history that wasnt recorded. What I saw is the missing piece. There is an old cemetery with several small graves there. My theory is that thing took kids lives and made the old school shut down.
