[Story Behind the Ice Bucket Challenge] For the waves of people who have accepted the Ice Bucket Challenge, there was really only one important thing to know beforehand: the freezing cold water being poured on top of their heads would help raise awareness for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. But even beyond that very sufficient reasoning, there’s an amazing story that few have familiarized themselves with. How exactly did the Ice Bucket Challenge come to exist? Meet Pete Frates. He’s the former Boston College baseball captain who people first started dumping water on themselves for. Just a handful of years ago he was on the baseball diamond hitting grand slams and polishing his stats for a baseball career. Today, he can’t even talk. Check out this video which perfectly tells the story of Pete Frates. Do remember the purpose of doing the challenge but not treating it as a trend for fun. Together we as a youth, as a responsible future leader and raise awareness for #ALS.
