Story Line...The old man had just shut down for the evening, tieing up some loose ends to the endless paperwork that had to be completed everyday...As the late evening started to turn into late night, he finally finished and slowly climbed down from the rig, stretching from the long miles that had their way with him throughout the day...Turning to head for the truckstop restaurant, he felt an arm wrap itself around his shoulder and the sound of a familiar voice saying, " you had rough day too my friend "? The old man knew who it was as the two had built a friendship with one another over the long hard years...Hi ya buddy stated the old driver to his friend, "Grover"...As he turned he saw the familiar grin plastered to the face that was sitting on top of a lanky frame and the mouth speak with the drawl that was so common among his own, but whenever the two would meet, all that was there was a deep appreciation for one another...As they sat at the table in the restaurant together, conversation flowed on into the night, each just enjoying the company of the other...The friend, used to be a professional boxer, taking down large men, much larger than himself in the ring, and now in retirement from the boxing world, was pushing a rig down the road to bring in added income...The old driver scanned the features of his friend closely to see if any trouble was on his horizon, for he knew too well the explosive temper that his buddy seemed to be forever plagued with, lying just below the surface of an easy smile...The old man smiled as he thought about the day when Grover had stepped in between him and another fella in the middle of a growing altercation that seemed to just get out of control...Anger was heavy, and accusation was at the doorway to every word when Grover quietly said to the offending giant of a man, you swing and I will take you down, fast...The man, quite bewildered by the presence of another black man standing up and defending Mr. Crackerhead was almost too much for him to fathom, but judging by the build of the ex-boxer, thought better and turned and left the scene...The old man and his friend had touched the soul of one another, and knew that the color made no difference and had disappeared from their relationship altogether as they laughed on into the night...As they both bowed their heads and prayed for the safety of one another, he who made them both, stood near and smiled, to know that he was always a part of their conversation whenever, and wherever they happened to be at the time...He heard them as they both whispered, "IN JESUS NAME, WE ASK"...
