Story Time: So pretty much in my English class I make up the diversity lol Im the only African American. My professor noticed my hair was straightened today & asked me about it. I told him the curls will be back next week! He said good, good and then reminded us there was a photographer coming Thursday. He smiled at me and asked if I could bring back my curls Thursday. I told him probably not cause it costed me money.. He replied well make your hair more black. Hahah now before you people start criticizing him & call him racist or whatever he didnt mean it in any bad way! He loves my curls and I do to! When he said it, it gave me a bigger sense of pride in my natural hair. I would not trade my curls for anything in the world!! He also helped me reaffirm my identity. There are going to be places I go where I will be the only mixed or African American whether it be a school, store or town. So if they are going to experience me, they might as well get the whole show Afro included! lol i am not ashamed of my curls and what they mean! I am a combination of my parents. they gave me more than a skin color, hair texture & lack of chin hahahahah they gave me confidence to stand out, be different & make a difference! So thank you professor for loving my hair and for reminding me of that ❤️
