Story Update: In December we aired a report on the biggest trade agreement in US history known as the Trans- Pacific Partnership (TPP) and how it would affect New Balance, the last major remaining sneaker company still manufacturing in the U.S. The Obama administration has touted the trade deal for having strong environmental and labor protections, but critics charge that documents released by Wikileaks today show how the White House is folding to pressure from partner countries for weaker environmental rules in order seal the deal on the TPP.
