Story of Two Buildings: First Another Taj Mahal & the Second Another Mausoleum Having Striking Resemblance to Taj Mahal at Agra There is one more lesser known Taj Mahal (located beside the Taj-ul-Masajid in Bhopal, India) as well, which was built in the Indo-Saracenic style by Sultan Shah Jahan, Begum of Bhopal. It is kept cool by the winds blowing in from the lakes. Its construction spanned over a period of 13 years (1871-1884). It was one of the largest palaces of the world built at that time. The building was originally named Raj Mahal (royal palace). The British Resident at Bhopal, highly impressed with the architecture, suggested that the palace be renamed the Taj Mahal, the Taj Mahal at Agra having been built by the Begums namesake Shah Jahan. The begum accepted the suggestion and the palace was renamed to Taj Mahal. The Begum is said to have ordered a three-year-long celebration called Jashn-e-Taj Mahal after the completion of the building. It is pertinent to add that Bibi Ka Maqbara (Tomb of the Lady) located in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India commissioned by the sixth Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in the late 17th century in the memory of his first wife, Dilras Banu Begum (posthumously known as Rabia-ud-Daurani) bears a striking resemblance to the famous Taj Mahal, the mausoleum of his mother, Mumtaz Mahal. Aurangzeb was not very interested in architecture, though he had built the small, but elegant, Pearl Mosque at Delhi. The Bibi Ka Maqbara was the largest structure that he had to his credit. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taj_Mahal,_Bhopal#mediaviewer/File:Taj_Mahal,_Bhopal.JPG & en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bibi_Ka_Maqbara
