Story time....please share if you like. There is a lot more to my world and view than the close up eagle images I have been posting. This is a little bit of a story about how smart and adapted these amazing creatures are. Even though this may be a unique situation and isolated to a few small spots in Alaska, there are endless examples of nature and these Bald Eagles adapting to the conditions around them. Just recently I learned of a favorite site for Eagle watchers on the east coast of the US. https://facebook/ConowingoBaldEagles here the dam releases water through the turbines, and stuns the fish, allowing the very cunning Bald Eagles to have easy picking with fish on the surface. Adapting to the conditions...its what they do. Here you have a very smart eagle flying out to an inbound fish trawler. They do not fly out to the crabbers, they know crabber have no fish on deck, only crab in the tank ....A trawler fishes with nets, and will have chunks of fish still stuck in his net (think of it like a corn truck with corn spilled in places) This eagle is no slacker, he has flown out, and taken the prime perch to check out the days picking. He takes a free ride in, scoping out his next possible meal. With his eyes that are able to magnify and still keep the over all scene in view, he will have to all figured out for the prime picking, before the boat even docks. I have seen Ravens do this five miles out from land! They ride the out bound boat boats out, and jump over to the inbound boats, see what they can get before the Eagles dominate the scene....pretty dang cool really....:-)
