Street Justice: Taking the law into your own hands, as a self-appointed judge, jury, or executioner to address a past grievance or transgression is unacceptable. Without the law to serve as our guide, we would have anarchy - a total loss of demarcation between which actions are acceptable and those which are not. When people voluntarily choose to step outside the confines of allowed conduct, they voluntarily accept responsibility for their actions and the consequences. They should be held accountable not only because sanctions are justified but to also serve as a reminder to the rest of us as to the type of society we aspire to create and maintain.
