Stress and the Holidays Though the holiday season can be an uplifting time, it also has its share of stress. We often find ourselves in cramped spaces with lots of people - some we love and some we tolerate for the time. Budgets are tighter as extra cash goes towards gifts, decorations, and lots and lots of food. Work deadlines can pile up as we prepare to take days off. Mid-winter also happens to be the peak of cold and flu season, and research indicates that stress can actually weaken your immune system, making you more susceptible to illness. Be sure that you get enough sleep this holiday season and that you take time to exercise as both of these activities reduce stress levels. Put technology aside to spend quality time with people you love. Holidays don’t last forever, so embrace the down time and enjoy them. That’s easy medicine to swallow.
