#Strikersgoals Six Potential #BreakoutStars Of The 2014 FIFA World Cup ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When we look and talk about football talents, the World Cup provides the opportunity to scout some of the best upcoming players in world football today. 32 teams will take to Brazil in an attempt to become footballing legend in their respective homelands, with many pinning their hopes on men still making a name for themselves on the global stage. In the past however, the World Cup has been a breeding ground for new talent. Who can forget Michael Owens now famous goal against Argentina on his international debut at the 1998 World Cup? Ronaldinho’s looping free-kick against England in Japan and South Korea? How about Pele’s introduction to the footballing world at just 17-years-old in 1958? The World Cup has become a platform for the best footballers to compete against each other while enhancing their reputations as some of the best around at what they do. The chance to play with Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and many more of the top players in the business is an opportunity to good to miss and now, with the eyes of every top club on them, these new stars will look to stand out amongst the best in the sports biggest competition. Here is a look at six young players to look out for at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. #RomeluLukaku This strong young talent of a player from belgium scored 30 goals in 46 games during two loan spells at Everton and West Brom have shown that Romelu Lukaku has what it takes to become a huge star in world football. The Chelsea youngster has been a menace to Premier League defences the past two seasons due to his physical power paired with speed and accurate finishing. His size gives him a unique selling point and has drawn comparisons to a former Blues player Didier Drogba, but the arrival of Diego Costa to England’s capital city will surely have an impact on where the former Anderlecht striker applies his trade post World Cup. The Belgian striker will almost certainly be a first choice pick in Brazil following an injury to strike partner Christian Benteke that rules him out of the tournament, giving Lukaku the chance to take the spotlight. Tottenham are rumoured to be among several clubs interested in the £20 million rated forward, with that fee likely to have risen by the time the World Cup is over. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. #JorgeResurrecciónMerodio In a Spain team littered with technical ability, Jorge Resurrección Merodio, more commonly known as Koke, may not have many chances to impress this summer. But, if the Spanish midfielder can produce anywhere near the kind of form that saw him create 13 goals in La Liga last season on the way helping his Atletico Madrid side to top of the table, then Vicente del Bosque will have no choice but top play him. The 22-year-old had a stunning season in Spain, reaching the Champions League final, finishing top of the League and scoring six goals from midfield. Like many in the Spanish national side, Koke has excellent ball retention and seems a perfect replacement for 34-year-old Xavi when he finally decides to retire. Hailing from the same youth system as Fernando Torres and David de Gea, Koke is further proof that Spain has one of the richest pools of footballing talent in the world. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. #KennethOmeruo Strikersgoals is Predicted to be one of the best central defenders in the world in the future, the Nigerian will be looking to add to his already impressive reputation. Just 20-years-old, Omeruo has already won the African Cup of Nations, played in the Confederations Cup and tested himself against some of the best players in the world, but is yet to make an appearance for his parent club Chelsea. The Super Eagles centre-back has made it clear he wants to earn a first team place with the London side after being loaned-out since arriving from Standard Liege in January 2012. Tough-tackling and disciplined, the young African was a revelation at Middlesbrough on-loan last season, only losing 4 matches out of the 14 that he played in towards the latter part of the Championship. At the World Cup the young defender will be looking to issue a warning to boss Jose Mourinho that he can be the man to finally replace captain John Terry at Stamford Bridge. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. #LorenzoInsigne This young and bright lad,LorenzoInsigne is going through a tough time currently. Despite leading the way with assists at his club Napoli last season, the 22-year-old has struggled to fill he void left by Edison Cavani at the end of the last campaign. He and his teammates finished the league in 3rd, earning his side a spot in the Champions League play-off round and placing above both of the MIlan sides. Blessed with a sublime first-touch and a dead ball specialist, (anyone who watched the European Under 21 Championships will already know this) Insigne could be a pivotal part of the Italian team that take on England on Saturday 14th June 2014. With several Premier League clubs having already signalled their interest in the unsettled Italian striker, Insigne will be hoping for a starring role for the Gli Azzurri in Brazil. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. #XherdanShaqiri Talking about a nation not renown for its footballing talents in the past, Xherdan Shaqiri is leading a new generation of Swiss footballing talent. The 22-year-old moved from FC Basel in 2012 to European giants Bayern Munich, but has struggled to make an impact on a team saturated with attacking talent. Aggressive, skilful and with a quick turn of pace, Shaqiri posses the ability to steal the headlines this summer in Brazil should he get the chance to prove it. Much like European neighbours Belgium, Switzerland posses a huge pool of up-and-coming talent including the likes of Ricardo Rodríguez, Fabian Schär, Granit Xhaka and Shaqiri. English fans may feel be familiar with the latter, after his goal at Wembley for the national side during the previous European qualifiers saw many get a first glimpse of what he is capable of. As one of the more experienced Swiss players when it comes to international football, the former Basel player will have a big role to play if his side are to progress in the tournament. If anyone is likely however it is Shaqiri and with a host of club sides looking to add to their squads over the summer, Brazil could be just the place to show off what he has to offer. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6. #PaulPogba This Tall lanky, athletic and with a knack for the spectacular, Paul Pogba can be a dominate force for France at this year’s World Cup in Brazil. Pogba made headlines in 2012 when he left the Red Devils in search of first team football at Juve. More recently the young Frenchman has accused his former club and manager Sir Alex Ferguson of showing disrespect towards him during his time at Old Trafford: “They left me out because they said I wanted to leave,” he told the BBC. “That is disrespect. Maybe they didn’t think they were making a mistake.” The 21-year-old is currently in and out of the Juventus side and has been recently been reported to be lobbying for a move away from Serie A, with the Italian champions also said to be looking to offload the midfielder. Brazil may just be the place to showcase his vast array of talent, with Chelsea, PSG and even former club Manchester United hoping to bring in the versatile midfielder in the hope he can repeat sensational goals like the two he scored against Udinese last year. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- strikersgoals Like Us Tells us what you think and please do leave comments.
