Strong Prison Wives Conference This upcoming year we want to start a new event for strong prison wives. A strong prison wife (or girlfriend) is a woman that is left behind to tend to all affairs alone that a normal woman in a conventional family would have but she is to do it all alone as her loved one or childs father is incarcerated. She has double the work but also has the added responsibility to keep contact with her incarcerated loved and ensure smooth transition and re-entry. The Event would gather women in these circumstances in a room or conference setting and provide education, tips to be successful, resources for her and her man, fellowship and contacts with other women in similar situation, and services (including ours) that could help ease the difficult time. First off, we would have to find out what types of things are important to wives of the incarcerated, what are some pressing issues that many may not know about that could make taking care of kids or ensuring loved ones make good transition. Then we need to figure out how to organize and deliver the information. We want to make this an effort by the people it supports. Please, if you are in this position or have any type of experience we are inviting any advice, insight, volunteer help, resources, connections, sponsorship, or anything you can bring to the table.
