Strong northwest winds to continue across the southern Appalachians the rest of the day. Intensifying low pressure will track along the Mid Atlantic Coast as high pressure remains centered over the southern Plains today. Circulation from these two systems will result in very gusty northwest winds across the southern Appalachians and foothills. The strong wind gusts should gradually weaken into the early evening hours. High Wind Warning remains in effect until 6 pm EST this evening.
