Student Spotlight! Mary Nevins is currently in her 7th year of consecutive lessons! Also a singer/songwriter who has performed her own works (see “The Best Kind” link below). Mary holds the record for most recital performances and it’s not because of her long run as a student. It’s because of her incredible diversity in music and the fact that she’s always generous with her time and willing to help out her fellow students of all ages in their recital projects. A ‘Hipster’ at heart (see “Sunrise Sunset”), her musical range covers everything from the soul singing of Alabama Shakes “Rise To The Sun” to the post-punk revival style of The Killers “Somebody Told Me”. Her performances consist of exceptional guitar playing and heartfelt singing. It makes me a proud teacher. Her accomplishments are far too many to list in this column!
