Students back but burdened with worries PRADIP LOHAGUN, KALIMPONG, 11 Sep 2013: The boarding students who had left the Darjeeling hills a month ago after the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha launched a fresh movement for statehood have returned to their respective schools. But most of them are to soon sit for the board exams and they appeared quite concerned as their syllabus is still a long way from being completed. Smriti Chettri, a 12th standard student, said, “We are worried as the exam dates are nearing and we have not yet completed the syllabus. The government should take the issue of statehood seriously and find appropriate solutions for it, while the agitators should keep schools away from the purview of strikes in future.” Choden Dukpa, a college student from Bhutan, said the month long bandh has affected her studies and her daily routine. She also stressed on the need of keeping education away from the bandh purview in future and appealed to the government to take the agitation seriously and discuss it to find a proper solution. eoi
