Students in an African American Literature class at the Central campus are participating in a Musical Analysis project. The assignment calls for students to select songs from the 1950s-1980s and describe the artist, political or social issues discussed in the song by the artist and why they selected that particular song. One student selected was the song Young, Gifted and Black by artist Nina Simone, as a song of encouragement and empowerment.
