Students understand the importance of respect. Youth respect. campaign launched at City Hall Thunder Bay, ON, October 23, 2013 – Members of the Leadership Thunder Bay Class of 2013, in conjunction with the City of Thunder Bay, Anti-Racism Advisory Committee and Crime Prevention Council announce today the official slogan for the youth respect. campaign. The slogan was created by students who participated in a video/slogan contest held in the spring of 2013. Hammarskjold High School and Dennis Franklin Cromarty High School, the winning schools, will each be presented with an award and a cheque for $1,125. Their winning videos, used to communicate their suggested slogan, were shown as part of the campaign launch. These videos, along with the video created by the Leadership Thunder Bay Community Action Project Team, will be used alongside posters in the new campaign. The campaign’s goal is to create a sustainable presence in elementary and secondary schools that will encourage students to embrace the value of respect and promote leading by example, ultimately helping to make Thunder Bay a great place to live. All involved thanked the sponsors who helped make this contest possible: The Chronicle Journal, Firedog Communications, Lakehead Public Schools, Rotary Club of Thunder Bay (Port Arthur), Shaw TV Thunder Bay, Unifor 229 (CAW 229) and Wasaya Airlines.
