Study Tips - Organizing Your Studies Students like to ask me, Grandmaster, how did you organisze your studies in the past? I always find myself confused and lack of time. WIth such a huge volume of notes and tutorials that students have to go through, it is a no-wonder why many students are facing this problem. Well, here are a few tips to organize your studies. 1) Decide you are going to ride the wave, instead of drowning yourself If you are not organized, the challanges you are going to face can drown you easily. However, once you have made the decision to stay in charge of the orgainzation of your studies, you will be in a much stronger position to ride the waves. 2) Make Lists Dont make lists with vague tasks like study history. Be as specific as possible like study history textbook page 100 to 120 Once you have done them, cross them off your list. Trust me, it feels very satisfying when you do that. 3) Add each task you are given to your list Have a disciplined system of updaing your to-do list. Pay attention to deadlines and rank them in priority. 4) Review your list regulary When you find something is becoming more important, upgrade its priority on your list. 5) Build variety into your studying If you are spending a whole evening studying, dont just ponder over a single task for a long time. Spend a little time doing and revising something else. A little change is as good as a rest as it gives your brain a variety of exercises. 6) Use spare bits of time You will always find spare bits of time even though it is your peak period. It can be waiting for a bus, sitting on a train, waiting for someone etc. Use these time to jot down some important ideas from the last lesson. You will be surprised on how productive these spare bits of time can be! 7) Have something with you that you can do, whereever you go Something small like a notebook will do. There is no use carring all your books and notes around. The notebook should contain some notes which you have made yourself. When planning for an essay, bring your essay plan whereever you go. Sort out your ideas and note key ideas and phrases that come into your mind, 8) Dont just work in your favourite place When it becomes a habit, it becomes an excuse for not working anywhere else. Be flexible in your location. 9) Practise answering questions right after your teacher has gone through the chapter This is a terrific way to stay ahead of your class. Be proactive in your studies! 10) Work with the correct students Correct students are productive students who can guide you instead of distracting you. Working on your own, can cause massive day-dreaming. When working in a productive group, your day-dreaming group is dramatically reduced. Every time you explain something to your friend, you gain a valuable learning experience yourself! Kayden Brown is an accomplished author for Study Grandmaster.
