Studying and applying Torah is actually very simple and fulfilled correctly if a person walks before running. A person does not tell a 4 year old child to now the lawn...because they know the child would get hurt. A person does not perform brain surgery their first day of medical school. This is why I reject teachers that try and throw a person into complete Torah study at the beginning of their walk and expect full application. The reason a majority of those in our faith push this kind of observance at the beginning is because they are learning from people who try and make you hit the ground running by selling you a DVD teaching for $50 or a book or a CD or a subscription service. This is the reason why we have so much confusion, this is the reason we have so much division, this is the reason the guf HaMashyach has become the most unedifying place to be on the planet. We tell people to apply before they are ready. We are not teaching people to start out as Bnei Noach, we are not teaching people to apply for the sake of Hashem. Instead we are giving the perception of self righteousness by doing Torah like stereo instructions. We do not realize how much damage we are doing through this. People are not making the connection as to why we do what we do outside of the context of cause God said so. If a first year medical student makes an incision on a patient they can kill the patient and this is what we are training people to do with this hit the ground running approach. A Torah student is like a child and they need to be taught at a pace to where they are able to apply for the sake of Hashem as opposed to the pace of just apply. We are destroying ourselves and dont even know it because of this mentality that is the same Greek mentality of our former religious institution.
