Stumbled across a forum debate about favorite female lead characters from recent series. Only rules were that the role had to be a main title role and the show had to have started at least as recently as 2000. I imposed a couple extra rules on my own list. First, it would only be American originated shows (could be produced in places like Canada, but for American networks). I did that primarily to rule out UK shows (and not have to make any Doctor Who decisions). Second, I could only include one role from a series. Heres my quickly-assembled attempt at the list. The order is kinda flexible. Format is Series: Character (Actress). Veronica Mars: Veronica Mars (Kristen Bell) Battlestar Galactica: Kara Starbuck Thrace (Katee Sackhoff) Wonderfalls: Jaye Tyler (Caroline Dhavernas) Fringe: Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) Firefly: Kaylee Frye (Jewel Staite) Alias: Sydney Bristow (Jennifer Garner) Gilmore Girls: Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) Pushing Daisies: Charlotte Charles (Anna Friel) In Plain Sight: Mary Shannon (Mary McCormack) Chuck: Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski)
