Styx and REO Speedwagon will co-headline a special concert to raise money for families who were affected by the tornadoes and devastating wind gusts that recently plagued central Illinois. The show will take place on December 4 at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington, Illinois. The two veteran Midwestern bands will be joined by a number of special guests at the event, and artists will be performing without accepting payment. Tickets for the show, which has been dubbed Rock to the Rescue Extends a Hand to Those in Need, will go on sale this Saturday at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster. Tickets are priced at $28, $43 and $58, not including fees. The good people of Illinois lent support and a helping hand to every artist on this bill at different times in their respective careers, and we owe a tremendous debt, Styx guitarist James JY Young, an Illinois native, says in a statement. Its our turn to ask what we can do for this great state, and the best way we know to help those in need is to get on stage and let the incredible healing power of music play its part in rebuilding Illinois. REO Speedwagon frontman Kevin Cronin adds, I am Illinois born and bred. REO Speedwagon is an Illinois band. The utter devastation and human suffering in Washington, IL, and the surrounding areas is heartbreaking. I believe that we need to take care of our own...the people of Illinois are our own, and we are theirs. Styx and REO, of course, have toured together frequently, most recently in 2013 and 2012 as part the Midwest Rock N Roll Express trek that also featured Ted Nugent.
