Subhanallah. Juz spoke to a sister. She was relating - TopicsExpress

Subhanallah. Juz spoke to a sister. She was relating gut-wrenching stories of Muslims who have been turned away by Muslim organisations. She related how she saw with her own eyes a Muslim man who was at a soup kitchen set up by a Christian organisation. He looked hungry. Yet he refused to partake in the food that was given to him. When the sister asked why not, he replied he did not know if its halaal. And that whether consuming such food would affect his Imaan. That made the sister want to set up a similar soup kitchen for Muslims. She said she approached MUIS to get the use of one of the wakf places to run the halal kitchen. It would cater to anyone, but it being halal would mean needy Muslims could consume it without feeling guilty or wondering if their imaan would be affected. She was turned down - rather rudely. She also tried to get some sort of funding from various organisations but to no avail. Needless to say, the experience was unpleasant. She is also directly helping Muslim families in need. Brothers and sisters, there have been talk of people with zakat and wanting to set up another body to rival MUIS to do the disbursement. My view is in the current time and climate, that may not be the right strategy. The powers-that-be will NOT tolerate a rival leadership structure. What we can do is to work in small groups of like-minded people. We can set up a fund whereby anyone can voluntarily give their zakat or any sadaqah. And channel them directly to the fakir and miskeen; or other worthy causes. This is important. Whatever Is given, it MUST be with the full understanding that 100% of it would go to the recipients. There will not be any admin charges or salaries. The sister wishes to remain anonymous. If u want, please PM me. Whatever is given I will in sha Allah transfer 100% of it to the sister. Let us not wait for change. Let us be that change. And do it ONLY for Allah azzawajal. Wallahualam. Barakallahufeek.
