Subject: Change your Kaiser Group Medical January renewal to December to save money Good Morning, I want to prepare you and your company for changes being made in Health Insurance and Health Care effective in 2014 as a result of the Affordable Care Act. Because of implementation of new taxes (2% to 8%), requirements for additional benefits (3%-8%), normal medical trend (8%-12%) and changes in how rates are factored (5%-20%), our office and Kaiser anticipate rate increases of anywhere from 15% to 40% for group plans at their January 2014 renewal. Kaiser (and most other insurers) have offered us an opportunity to delay these rate increases: Your group will be allowed to Change Your Renewal Date/Anniversary Date to December 1. You will have a rate increase that will be equal to the July 1 through December 1 increases. For most plans, this increase = 6%. Your plan design will not change. If you have a January, February, March or April renewal now, this will mean that you will pay 6% more for 1, 2, 3 or 4 months and correspondingly SAVE 15% to 40% for 11, 10, 9, or 8 months. We MUST let Kaiser know prior to 8/31 if you want to take advantage of this opportunity. We will need to submit the formal change request no later than October 1.
