Success is getting what you want. Happiness is wanting what you - TopicsExpress

Success is getting what you want. Happiness is wanting what you get. -- Dale Carnegie Now here is an appropriate one for the season. Hopefully! Good morning one and all. If you have had the pleasure of going outside this morning, its a little nippy. But bearable. The coldness reminds us of the season, while allowing the crispness of the air to keep us reminded we are warm blooded mammals. Usually in every neighborhood or countryside there is the smell of a chimney burning wood. Nothing better than sitting in front of a roaring fire and gathering warmth. It is especially nice to wake up to that warmth inside your home. What else brings you happiness? Please dont just simply say for the sake of saying something. Something that really makes you happy. We are human. So greediness is not uncommon during the answering of this question. There will be plenty of people that will just answer quickly, using wit or humor. Not acceptable. You must engage your heart strings on this one. An example would be to have all of your family close for the Holidays, while standing in the middle of the floor of your newly built home, overlooking whatever landscape you had chosen to build near. Or, helping someone who is struggling and finding them a home so that their family could possibly enjoy being together. Either is fine. The movie The Bucket List gives you that comparison pretty well, I think. While during remission of Cancer Morgan Freeman is with his family enjoying Thanksgiving dinner. While Jack Nicholson (A billionaire living in a high rise condo, which he probably owns the entire building) fights a microwavable dinner that he is unable to open from the wrapping it is in. While the cinematography is perfect to show us that Morgan Freeman is engulfed in happiness, Jack stands alone in tears. Is this art portraying life or life portraying art. Both. The most powerful people in the world struggle during these times. Not financially...emotionally. We focus on being what we are for so long in our lives we soon allow thoughts of happiness to slip away. Similar to the movie, Jacks character had not seen his daughter in years, or even his Grand daughter. Is this happiness? I believe in the Christian faith we read it as On this day a Savior is born, he will become the King of Kings, yet he was born in a Manger. while we read there was no rooms available, think; The King of Kings...could not get a room? The son of God? People walked for days to see the phenomenon, the son of God, yet No rooms? Really? God in all his glory knew. The humbler the child, the stronger the message. Where have we gone wrong? People tell me...we are not that type of society, that we would not travel nor wait to see...anything. We would just pull it up on the internet. Wanna bet? Priorities my fellow mammals. We will camp out to save money for days in front of a store that sells technology or Air Jordans. Well, am I telling the truth? Its not the retailers fault that we have become this. After all the media showed it over and over. So are we no longer a society of faith, or that of bargains and flash? During the millennium the Most Viewed television shows are? You guessed it... REALITY shows! It is what it is. Neither one matters if, neither brings happiness! Success is getting what you want. Happiness is wanting what you get...ALL at once this quotes message just became stronger. You guys have a Great Day!
