Successful Campaign Kick-off Longtime Pacifican and current School Board Member Eric Ruchames met family, friends and supporters at his City Council campaign kick-off event held Sunday, Aug. 24, at Visions Seaside Spa in Park Mall. A diverse group of nearly 75 came to show their support for Ruchames, among them: elected representatives from the Pacifica School Board, Pacifica City Council, Jefferson Union High School District, North Coast County Water District as well as Chamber of Commerce members, and many other civic organizations. The event gave the candidate an opportunity to share his vision for the future of the community. Ruchames talked about the need for the community to work together to identify the problems and develop solutions to the challenges Pacifica faces. He spoke of wanting to reduce the hostile rhetoric that seems to be part of our political discussions and instead recognize that we all live in this community and have a stake in good collaborative solutions we can all support. He also commented that it will take more than campaign slogans and sound bite solutions to deal with the problems that face Pacifica. Ruchames, who has lived and raised his family in Pacifica for four decades, has served the community in a number of capacities, including 30 years as a Pacifica police officer, 10 years as a school board trustee, and 6 years on the Pacifica Library Foundation Board.
