Such a lovely fall afternoon here, I wish I was strong enough to walk the path by the river, it looks so lovely way over there. Back home I used to go out in Dads old pickup truck and I would take all the dogs with me and meet with a friend or two of mine and we would go out rabbit hunting and let the dogs out to run in the fields as we walked behind them. We were really out looking for deer sign and where they were running more than anything but if we struck up a big hare or two then we would take them but more often than not we would walk and see the beauty of Gods world, we would hear the wind whisper in the trees and the land would roll in waves as it stretched out so far before us like an ocean that had been frozen in an instant. One occasion we came upon an old abandoned house, probably built before the civil war, but in the plantation style. We took our time picking our way through the old boards making the porch and we explored the old insides, there was still furniture from the time there and we even made it safely upstairs, it must have been a lovely view out those windows back in the day. After these days exploring before the sun set we would stop to polish off a beer or two and then make our way home where I would put the dogs back up and feed them very good for their work hunting. They just loved to do mindless things like this, seems the ride in the truck was their high point and to be honest I miss not having a pack of dogs to go out hunting the rabbits again.
