Such a lovely note from a new Golden Egg this morning, having joined the Mapping weekend, Im going all funny! Dear Imogen, I just needed to say thank you for the opportunity to come on the (Mapping Your Novel workshop) weekend. Your help with the story is so extraordinarily helpful in an I-cant-quite-believe-it type way. Wow. Its like bits that have been wedged stuck for ages are all suddenly moving, it is so wonderfully liberating to be able to see why the bits that dont work, dont work. Im so very excited because I think I might actually be able to finish it properly this time. Anyway, I will stop gushing now. Please pass on thanks to Christine, I thought her summary and post mortem of the two books was superb, a really difficult thing to do and she made it look easy and to Abi for all the organisation - it was swish - met some really great people too, the community of practice youre building through Golden Egg is exactly the right way to go. I personally feel like Ive been running for miles and miles and bloody miles and someones just pointed me in the direction of the finish line. Take care and I will send you the book map as soon as Ive done it and Im going to be disciplined and not write the next draft until Ive finished the map and weve stress tested it.
