Sudan has accused South Sudan of occupying the contested border area of Joda Al-Fakhar. The Commissioner of Jebelein Ahmed Al-Teib Al-Shafie says SPLA forces entered the area on Saturday and unilaterally declared ownership. Al-Shafie claims SPLA soldiers imposed visa and farming fees on the citizens. “SPLA forces from South Sudan occupied the contested village of Joda Al-Fakhar and they prevented students from going to schools and they closed the schools. This was a result of a two-day notice to citizens from the SPLA that Joda belongs to South Sudan and that any north Sudanese citizen must pay 450 pounds as immigration fees and anyone who wants to cultivate must pay 150 pounds per a fedan” The commissioner of Renk County in Upper Nile State denies the allegations. Speaking to Miraya, Commissioner Agot Akuie says South Sudan is not charging any fees. "Sudanese media is spreading propaganda that we are taking money from citizens; that is not true they are trying to create justification so that they can attack our police and occupy the area and then they will call the United Nations that this is the zero line just like what they did in Panthau (Heglig). Joda Alfukhar is called talamapoge and they translated into Alfukhar." Joda Al-Fakhar is one of the contested border areas which lies between White Nile State in Sudan and Upper Nile State in the South.
