Suffield Friends, I need your help! As you know, I was nominated by my party to fill the vacancy on the Board of Selectman. Unfortunately, Ive learned that the Board of Selectman has found its own nominee and will ignore the party nomination process. Ive been told its a done deal. The local party committees are elected bodies that serve on behalf of the electorate of their party. They are elected in an open democratic caucus. Included in their duties is to put forward nominees to fill vacancies on any town board. The Board of Education is undergoing that process at the moment. For the Board of Selectman to break from this tradition is nothing more than a power grab. It reeks of cronyism, back room deals and dirty politics. We dont have room for that in Suffield. Please join me on Wednesday at the Board of Selectman meeting. There will be an opportunity to speak and I hope you will voice your support of my nomination and for democracy.
