Summer Stampede Car Show’s theme of “A Salute to the Military & Veterans - Show Your Colors!” is enhanced this year with a 4-day visit of the traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall. In conjunction with the car show, special activities are planned for Sunday, August 17 between 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event includes military vehicles and displays, and a flyover of a P-51 Mustang WWII-era plane is scheduled between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. There will be a live band and DJ, face painting and gourmet food trucks. Visitors are welcome to view the Wall from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday (August 15 and 16) and on Sunday (August 17) from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Docents will be on hand and golf carts will be available for the disabled. There will be 500 special limited-edition memorial booklets on sale for $10.00. The American Veterans Traveling Tribute version of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall is 360 feet long and is an 80%-sized replica of the original wall in Washington, DC. The Wall will be at Mayfair Park in Lakewood from the evening of Thursday, August 14 until Sunday afternoon, August 17.
