Summer has officially arrived with the first rains for the season! At the moment everyone is hunkered down waiting for the dry pans and dormant trees to soak up the water. The last few days has been very warm and the anticipation evident with an abundance of snakes, frogs and butterflies all emerging from their slumber. The migratory birds have been rolling in slowly and we are starting to see the usual Red-chested and Diedericks Cuckoo, Broad billed Rollers and the tiny Willow Warblers, which have flown all the way from Europe, various migratory raptors including some very special rarities like Eurasian honey buzzard! The Pygmy kingfisher, Fish Eagles and Walberg’s Eagle have been making nest in anticipation for the abundance for food the rains will bring in the next few weeks.
