Summer is coming !!! GSSC is there for YOU !!!! Guitar School Summer Camp Why, What and Where ? I have given a lot of clinics for different musical instruments. Also I have been teaching for years at different music-schools and even co-started a few music centers. During the years my heart found a place to chill in the sun in Tenerife ( Canary Islands ). I Have a nice place there with 3 bedrooms that was initially the place for my Band ( Drummer, Bass and Me ). Due to new regulations and my medical past ( last year severe surgery Hernia, … ) I have decided to re-organize my house as a private guitar-school. There are 2 extra bedrooms available and therefore I came up with 2 Formulas as explained below. I personally embrace the possibility and see the educational benefit of combining a Sun Vacation with a well prepared package of instructional material. You will not only have tuition and sun but also a great and pleasant stay on this island with someone who knows where to go and what to do, the perfect guide at your disposal. A perfect combination !!!!!!!! Whats the program like? Get ready for a practical, hands-on playing experience through a variety of classes and performance activities. You will have individual lessons ( 4 hours/ day ) as specified in Formula 1. Formula 2 aims at placing you with a guitarist of similar training, stylistic interest, and ability. Mostly this is a friend or bandmember. Someone you know very well. You will have 4 hours of Duo-lessons ( 2 students ). Remember a Guitar and Vacation relaxprogram. What guitar styles can I study? We offer classes and clinics in blues, metal, jam band funk/fusion, classic rock, contemporary rock, acoustic rock/pop, jazz, fingerstyle acoustic, and the performing songwriter. During our 25h week an overall direction is chosen with and for you. Youll choose your main style for lessons and from there you can branch out in our clinics and jams. At this time, players with a classical background can choose to branch out in a fingerstyle acoustic, jazz, acoustic rock/pop, or songwriting ensemble if they choose to bring their nylon-string instruments. Fretboard classes will be helpful to all students in any style. Who is the instructor? See Biography ( wimroelants ) What should I bring? Electric guitarists should bring Jacks for connection to amplifiers and electronic guitar tuners. Acoustic guitarists should bring guitars (and pickups, if applicable). We provide amplifiers for all participants for the lessons. Be sure to bring enough strings… Whats the schedule? Classes during the week generally run from 10h30 to 14h30. After that you are free. Every participants schedule will include a class in each of the following: • Fretboard harmony: Music theory for the guitarist. You will learn music theory and how it applies to the guitar. The class includes Scales, Modes, Arpeggios, Chord Voicings, and Chord Inversions. • Style: Focused specifics of the style of your choosing (blues, groove funk, fusion, performing songwriter, classic rock, contemporary rock, or metal ) and theoretical concepts as they apply to your chosen style. • A big emphasis is laid on Technique : Finger-Picking, Legato, Alternate Picking, Tapping, Sweeppicking • Licks in the Style of : your own favorite guitarplayers as well as Mine !!! • Building up a solo • Composing and writing • Improving : You own language • Ensemble: You will if wanted perform in concert with a group on the last day of the program. Where will I eat and sleep? GSSC provides a private house with 3 bedrooms as your own location during the entire stay. Eating facilities are to be found in the various restaurants in Tenerife or can be prepared in our kitchen or BBQ on the terras.
