Avatar (2009)-- James Camerons science fiction classic 2. Before Sunrise (1995) -- the first of three movies that trace the evolution of a couple from their 20s to their 40s. 3. Cast Away (2000)-- Tom Hanks is on a desert island alone. 4. Contact (1997)- Female-centered sci-fi starring Jodi Foster 5. Crossing Delancey (1988)- great Manhattan romance I have seen more than ten times. 6. Dharm (2007)-- a meaningful Hindi movie about religious conflict and redemption 7. Eat Drink Man Woman (1994) - Ang Lees early film about a great chef in Taiwan and his three daughters 8. Headhunters (2009) -- Norwegian suspense film about an art thief and a deadly mercenary 9. Late Spring (1949) -- one of Ozus best, this one features a widower who wants to get his daughter married off 10. Lemon Tree (2009) -- a Palestinian woman who is losing her inherited lemon orchard connects to her Israeli neighbor 11. Love is All You Need (2013) -- Danish love story also featuring Pierce Brosnan 12. My Neighbor Totoro (1988)--The great kids movie from Miyazakis Studio Ghibli 13. The Grocers Son (2007) - is a dramatic film set in Provence, France, directed by experienced French documentarian Éric Guirado about an angry young man who finds new connections with a family he has abandoned 14. The Notebook (2004)- One of the best love stories ever filmed 15. The Wind Rises (2013)-- Visually beautiful animated film about the early days of aircraft design in Japan (wow-- Miyazaki made my list twice!) I am also tagging few others who might find it fun.
