Summers Eve Commercial This is one of my favorite commercials for a number of reasons. For one, it highlights the self-destructive nature of performing strict ideals of masculinity. Notice how he must endure various forms of pain in order to prove to himself that he is a man, according to how culture has dictated a man should be. Theres a lot to say there. Secondly, this commercial also highlights the prophetic genius of comedy. Comedy is funny when/because its true. And hard truths can be communicated through humor that cant always been conveyed through other kinds of conversation, mostly because comedy has a disarming quality that opens us up to the possibility of being changed. I could go on but I wont. I just find this very interesting. Thoughts?
