Summertime Fashion Tips for the Working Women in India... Be careful while wearing a saree: Saree is the traditional Indian dress worn by women in India. Most of the times, westerners too get attracted to wear a saree and tend to buy the colorful sarees with bead works or zari designs. It is not advisable to wear a silk saree unless you are attending a party in an air-conditioned room. Cotton sarees are the best to wear during summer in India since they give out an elegant look along with a comfortable feel. Fridays are considered auspicious and Indian working women prefer wearing designer sarees to office. While working in India, I used to wear silk cotton sarees that were available in elegant patterns and beautiful designs. Be careful while buying a Salwar Kameez: Salwar Kameez is a type of dress originated from the northern part of India, where you get to wear a pant type bottom and a kurta type top. You can get synthetic salwar kameez in beautiful designs and amazing patterns, but certain synthetic or polyester materials irritate the skin and in turn create a bad odor. Be it a normal office day or an important day, I preferred wearing a cotton chudidhar or a salwar kameez while working in India. Fashion ornaments to avoid during summer: Wearing heavy fashion ornaments is what I try to avoid during summer. Though the custom of India requires wearing a gold jewelry in form of Mangal Sutra (equivalent to a wedding ring, but worn as a neck chain) or bangles, I always prefer wearing a simple jewelry. Simple jewelry normally go along well with all kinds of Indian dresses. Even on a casual Friday where I get to wear Jeans and a matching cotton top, simple jewelry like a single designer bangle or a bracelet works wonders. If you are not keen on wearing a gold jewelry you can get fashion ornaments made of gems, stones or other materials in various designs and in wide range of prices. You can get cheaper accessories in road side shops in all the states in India. Avoid doing a heavy makeup since sweating can cause damages to your make up, skin and appearance. You must always keep a face wash as washing your face at least twice a day is important during summer in India. A light makeup is always advisable if you are working in India during summer.
