Heres a piece about Her in book Tahirih TheAlogy: pp 209-210 ***HATSHEPSUT, PHARAOH OF EGYPT 1504 – 1458 BC How many people living today are aware that there were female Pharaohs, who, like Tahirih, led whole communities and civilizations forward? Hatshepsut was one such female leader. Hashepsut, of the 18th dynasty, was the forerunner of notable female figures such as Cleopatra, Catherine the Great and Elizabeth I. Hatshepsut was preceded by a number of important and seemingly influential queens in the 17th dynasty: Tetisheri, Ahhotep II, and Ahmose-Nefertary. Their influence most likely paved the way for Hatshepsut to become Pharaoh. Hatshepsut was the daughter of Thutmose I and his queen, Ahmose. Hatshepsut was the one an entire country worshipped as the *Sun God on Earth*. During her twenty year reign, she had many accomplishments, such as building temples and opening trade to the Land of Punt, which is located near the Red Sea, possibly in present-day Somalia. The trade included ebony, ivory, myrrh saplings, animal skins, gold, and perfumes that were brought back on these trading expeditions. She is also credited with the transportation of two granite obelisks, for the Temple of Kamak. These obelisks were used as religious monuments in ancient Egypt. The people were happy and peaceful during her time as Pharaoh. Hatshepsut disappeared suddenly and her temples and works were effaced and destroyed, mostly due to a male dominant culture in effect at the time. However, the Metropolitan Museum in New York has an entire wing devoted to Her .
