Sunday 10th November news... Davis Wood League Results: Just three games on Saturday with one home win and two away losses. The 1s beat East Devon 1s – again – at RMB Stonehouse. Goals for Captain Adrian ‘AJ’ Woodgates and Gareth Roberts secured the 2-0 win as the 1s move up to third place. The 2s lost away to Exeter Uni by the same scoreline, 2-0. The 3s had a weekend off while the 4ths unfortunately suffered a heavy 11-0 defeat away to Taunton Civil Service 1s. Devon Cup: The 1s lost out away to Exeter Culm Vale Hornets 5-2 in the first round of the Devon Cup. Consolation goals came from Bruce Danbury and Man of the Match Lloyd Millbourn. Lloydy won Man of the Match by 1 point, just ahead of Steve Hill in 2nd place. Slight shame for the 1s to go out so early, after the club has appeared in the Cup Finals day five times in the last six season. Pressure is on the 2s now not to let the club down The 2s are still due to play ISCA 4s before 30th November in the Devon Trophy Round 1. Unfortunately ISCA haven’t accepted any of the dates we have offered yet. Watch this space for info as and when we get it… devonhockey.net/public/cupresults.php Next Weeks Social: Heathy is organising another Club social for next Saturday in The Artillery Arms. Please contact John on [email protected] or 07738 309 578 for more details. He’ll also be selling tickets to Club Christmas Dinner on the night - Saturday 14th December at View Restaurant, tickets are £18.95, friends and family all welcome. Plymouth Half Marathon: Save £5 by entering next years Plymouth Half Marathon before tomorrow. Traditionally quite a large number of players run this race, normally raising cash for our charity of the season. PGSOB are proud to announce that the chosen charity for the 2013-2014 season is “Transplant Sport UK” and specifically the “Plymouth Transplant Sport Team”. More details will follow later in a separate mail. Selection and Availability: The Captains are still having a few headaches with selection at the moment, most frequently with players not responding to messages confirming availability. If you get a call or text or even a Tweet, Facebook message, postcard or message via carrier pigeon – please respond! The Captains have a lot of responsibilities to sort out and players not saying if or when they can play until Friday night – or sometimes not responding at all – isn’t too helpful. It only takes a few seconds to say if you can or can’t play and yet there are still too many last minute Friday night selection discussions going on. If you can’t play, or can only make a certain start time or home/ away game please just tell the Captains. As long as they know they can normally work something out for you. Mini rant over… Cheers, Bruce (on behalf of PGSOB HC Committee)
