Sunday 30 March 2014. I Luv Composing! Subject is Garlic. I am running a little late this year to plant my garlic out.. I usually have it in by now so it is ready to harvest by September October!. My last seasons crop was not as good as I would have liked, I have had better crops in past years, & I ran out, I think I ate too much,, (thats properly why I dont get many visitors these days!) So, I had to buy some from my organic grower this year, that was, Kookaburra Organics Australia Australia. Thinking where to grow it this year, while eating my Cornflakes this morning, I decided to test some soil from my Compost Bin, the stuff HOT COMPOSTED last year. (you see it in the photos). My 1st test was to sprinkle some on my cornflakes!,,, Well, it did taste okay,, but not being 100% sure, I thought it was a bit alkaline, I decided to get the PH kits out. Yes 2 x kits I do have, 1 x I received with my WORM FARM Friend at the Worm Planet in NSW They give some goodies when you buy a worm farm from them. one goody is a PH kit which sticks in the soil.. The other kit I have is the one you sprinkle, shake & gargle with!, & turns green, to my surprise they both tested between 6 - 7 straight from the compost bin. Normally I have put my garlic in the crisper for a couple of weeks before planting, but, because I am some times play at being an idiot, I didnt this year, this year I planted em into my unprepared garden. So will be waiting to see if I can get a better crop this year?
