Sunday 5:00 pm update I would like to start by thanking everyone for their outpouring love and generosity through the Christmas holiday. We received so many cards and gifts that it is truly overwhelming. I hope everyone had a good Christmas. I had several people send pm and texts saying they know its hard to enjoy the holidays, but do the best I can. We are a very strong family and the situation could be much worse, so we are enjoying our holidays to the greatest extent. It may not be ideal, but at least were together. I am happy to report that Kristina has made a lot of progress since the last time I updated. She is getting noticeably stronger every day. She is getting much more strength and control over her extremities than she had before. She has been doing great with weaning off of the ventilator. Its going to be a long road, but shes able to go at least a little bit each day on just pressure support from the vent. Today she went 4 hours and was still going when they switched her over to SIMV to give her a rest. Im very pleased with the way things are going and all the effort she is putting in to getting better. Shes very strong physically and mentally, and has impressed most people here at the hospital. We will continue to plug along and pray for the best outcome. We appreciate everyones love, support, and prayers. God bless all of you.
