Sunday, 8.55pm: Just finished the latest call to Barleysinger. Hes much more oriented each time I talk to him. He remembered my calling earlier in the day. Hes starting to wish he had email access, but is very glad to be in contact with you all, even if only at one remove. His gut feeling on our daughters age is now up to 16, even though he was still remembering her birthday as having been in 1992 (the year we got married). Thats just a number slip, though -- he still remembers that she was a toddler on the flight to Australia. The blood in the urine WAS a definite -- it was bright red, unmistakable for something else -- but his current catheter bag shows no trace of it, so it may have subsided. Ill be following up on it in my morning call to his doctors. He was also wondering whether the marks on his hand are from the medical care, or whether they could be a spider bite -- but I told him what the ICU doctor told me, that theyd tested him for venins, and it came back negative. He remembers the house we bought more clearly now, though he hadnt remembered that we have cages for the chickens. As with every call, I spent part of the time asking him questions to see how oriented he was, part of it catching each other up on knowledge of his condition (hes back on the pain meds now, as the sedatives cleared out of his system, he needed them -- and apparently I DID leave his ribs sore when I did CPR), and part just talking and being there for each other. Hes impressed with the way our daughter has stepped up and helped out, but worried about how Im doing, without the elements of care that he usually provides for me, that she cant do. But we had a square meal of cooked food tonight (soup, but it wasnt munchies, canned beans, or cereal...), and hes reassured that were managing the essentials. Not much more to say. Daughters in her own bed, where I wont disturb her sleep, for the first night since hubby collapsed. Shes been crashing out on his side of our king size bed, to make sure shed be there if I needed her, since the day of his collapse, but hes doing so much better, she felt it was time to get a decent nights sleep in her own bed, for a change. Not much more to say or do until morning -- then, I talk to hubbys new doctors, on the ward, about further tests and diagnostics, and make contact with the volunteers who should be able to hook him up with safe food. There are other household responsibilities Ill need to meet, too -- keeping up with our online shopping, some bills & paperwork that hubby was in the middle of, etc. So, Im off to bed, to see if I can get a good nights sleep.
